Join CMH, NCC and Grizzly Bear Specialist Michael Proctor in the Bugaboo Mountains September 7-10, 2012
CMH Summer Adventures (CMH) and Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) join forces to provide this amazing opportunity to explore the remote Bugaboo range of the Columbia Mountains with CMH's certified hiking guides and special guest Micheal Proctor, PhD.
For 30+ years CMH has been introducing hikers and walkers to the Bugaboo mountains based from our exclusive lodge at the base of the Bugaboo Spires just west of the Columbia Wetlands. Daily helicopter flights take you and your guides from the lodge to explore ancient glaciers, cobalt lakes and high alpine ridges. Each evening at the lodge enjoy gourmet cuisine prepared fresh daily by your chef and pastry chef, relaxing massage services and a soak in the roof-top hot tub before retiring to your private, comfortably appointed guestroom with en suite washroom.
On this special adventure, Dr. Proctor will lead an engaging discussion one evening on his research on grizzly bears in the Kootenay region and the use of DNA as a tool to understand bear ecology and conservation issues. Dr. Proctor will also share his wisdom, insights and humour each day during hikes and walks in this pristine mountain terrain.
Both guides and guests were captivated with Dr. Proctor's stories and presentations in 2010. Read CMH Guide Paul Lazarski's comments on the trip on his article Respecting Grizzlies; Heli-Hiking with Biologist Michael Proctor.
